My calendar tells me its September, which I find hard to believe! Where has this year gone to? I have been rather absent at the blog, as I’ve been working on a new website and delaying posts as a result. I’ve photographed 20 weddings this year, all just amazing, and I have also spent time back on the west coast (where I have no travel fees and am planning to spend several months next year, did you know?), and just returned from a very inspirational trip to Europe. I am hoping to share some of the great work we have created this year soon! Given how I have neglected the blog, I thought I would aim to share an especially picture-heavy post for this week of an Art Institute of Chicago Wedding!
Combine two huge families, a bride with an amazing sense of style, and a crowd that loves to celebrate, and you get one of the most beautiful weddings and one of the most amazing parties I’ve ever photographed. When I walked into the Waldorf to photograph Courtney preparing, I gasped when I saw her dress. That dress! Right? Just amazing. Her bridesmaids also looked just lovely in shades of gray, with soft pink for her sisters. The ceremony at Assumption had one of the most emotional walks down the aisle I’ve seen, and Courtney’s lovely mother sang beautiful songs throughout the ceremony for the couple and guests. At the reception, Courtney surprised Timmy by singing “Your Song” by Elton John instead of doing a toast, an act that brought almost all the guests to tears! The singing carried over to the reception, with Timmy, Courtney, and her mother and sisters joining the amazing band on stage for several songs during what was by far the biggest dance party I’ve ever seen at a wedding. Many thanks to the AMAZING team for this day—so many of my favorite people!
